When did the fire start?
No source gives the exact minute. But the time can be reliably bounded:
The earliest video (S-01) was posted at 19:30:02 — confirmed by the X API and the post ID. The clip is 13.8 seconds long, and uploading and posting take extra time. So the fire was already burning before 19:30.
The author of the video from the crowd (S-02, posted at 19:32:02) later recorded their phone screen while playing the original in the gallery: the gallery header reads “Ponedeljak [Monday] · 19:26” (S-18). If accurate, the fire was already well under way at 19:26 — the flames in that video are large. Not independently verified (iOS allows manual date editing), but consistent with the post six minutes later.
The march set off at 18:00 from the National Theatre, along Vožda Karađorđa Street and King Milan Square to the Fortress Bridge, where the mayor spoke (M-01). According to the Beta agency, the speech was followed by fireworks and flares on the walls, which caused the fire (M-04).
Sunset in Niš was at 18:08:39, civil twilight ended at 18:35:39 and nautical twilight at 19:08:40. All videos show a fully dark sky — consistent with a time after 18:35, most likely after 19:00.
The fire started after the march, the speech and the fireworks. Per the S-18 author’s gallery it was already burning at 19:26 (claim); the only firmly established fact is that it was burning before the first video was posted at 19:30:02.
